Fixing board, Easy question HEX SCHMITT

It could if one of the inputs is floating. All all the gates being used?

    Current sources in parallel...

The currents will add as if there were one source until the voltage compliance of one of the real current sources is reached. Ideal current sources, such as in a simulator, have no such limit, of course.

    3½ Glorious Nixie Tube Digits!

And not your last "Ouch" I expect.

    3½ Glorious Nixie Tube Digits!

But not more than a similar piece of electronics already built, was it?

    3½ Glorious Nixie Tube Digits!

I always though Nixie tubes were short of a first or second generation electronic numerical display waiting for an improvement. I didn't care for the way the digits were displayed at different depths in the display with the wires from the unlit digits faintly visible in front of the lit digit...

What can be the reason behind this tragedy?

Are those outlets 230V to ground/neutral? Would be much safer if it were a split-phase 230V with 115V to ground.

    Failure of polypropylene motor-run capacitors

I suggest you go with Max and find a name-brand, oil-filled paper run-capacitor as a replacement (of the same capacity and voltage, of course). It might be physically larger and more expensive, but it will likely be more reliable.

20W Power Supply for Stereo Amplifier

Typically those are referred to as amplifiers with a bridged output.

20W Power Supply for Stereo Amplifier

True. I forgot about the common ground between the plus and minus.

20W Power Supply for Stereo Amplifier

So that's an SMPS that uses mains AC as input power. The buck regulator is an SMPS that uses DC as the input power.

20W Power Supply for Stereo Amplifier

No, it's a full SMPS that converts one DC voltage to another. What's your definition of a "whole" SMPS That should work. Yes, it would.

20W Power Supply for Stereo Amplifier

It is a type of switched-mode power supply which reduces a DC voltage, rather like an automobile is a type of motor-vehicle. There are several types of switched-mode regulators, such a buck, boost, buck-boost, and line operated. It is not a line-operated switch-mode regulator. So it would not...

20W Power Supply for Stereo Amplifier

You could use a couple of high-voltage, buck switching regulators to reduce the rectified ≈40Vdc to the desired 24Vdc with low loss (example). This will provide a stable voltage for the amp, minimizing any distortion from fluctuations in the supply voltages. The IC switching regulator used in...

Switching negative voltages with a transistor (revisited)

Yes, for Q1 being a Darlington. Okay for my sim without. Missed that.

Switching negative voltages with a transistor (revisited)

Below is an LTspice sim of the circuit: As you can see, the output is going between 0V and -12V. I didn't have models for the transistors you have, but your circuit should operate similarly. Double check all your wiring. What load did you have connected to the output?
