Hello. I recently built a bipolar driver using a L297/298 combo. I basically followed the datasheets given for the 297/298 and added some screw terminals and adjustments for control. I just finished assembling everything today, but I cannot get it to work. When powered on, the motor just...
Hello all. I am working on a basic stepper motor controller using L297/L298. In the datasheet of the L298 it says that the sense resistors must not be wire wound. However, I am having a lot of trouble finding resistors to meet my requirements (0.5ohm, >=2W) that are not wire wound. Am I...
I've tried searching Google, but I have had little luck finding any kind of wiring diagram. What size capacitor would I need? How could I test to see what wires need to go to what? Thanks!
Hello. I recently aquired a 1/2hp GE washing machine motor that I plan on using for a robotics project. It has 5 wires coming out of it and I believe it is from a mid 1980s washing machine. I hooked it up to a tester and it appears that 2 wires are connected together and the other three are...
I haven't decided for sure what to do yet. I have been looking into differential GPS and I believe that it would definitely do the job, the only problem is finding a somewhat cheap model that I can use to build my interface. However, I have not ruled out the option of using radio signals. I...
I appreciate the additional advice. I will definitely consider these ideas if I cannot come up with anything better or a way to make the others work. I know that it is possible to burry sense wire in the ground and bump into it, or to have some type of rangefinder system were line of site is...
Thanks for the replies so far. I have thought about the mouse type idea before where the robot would simply have a starting location and then count wheel movements to find its position. There are two problems with this for my design however. First, it programming it to a certain lawn would be...
Hello all. About a year ago I made a robotic lawn mower. Basically it is a normal lawn mower that uses a gasoline engine to spin the blade and spin an altenator to charge two 12V batteries. The batteries are then used to power a couple wheelchair motors, one attached to each wheel. I have a...
Hello everyone! Recently I have been thinking about trying to do another upgrade to my lawnmower. Currently I have installed two wheelchair motors, battery system, etc. to a normal gas powered motor to make it a remote controlled mower. I have been doing some thinking on how I could make it...
Hello again! I have attempted to fix my power supply again. I double-checked the fuse and it is fine. I also removed any unused wires by desoldering them. The posts are not directly touching the case. I honestly have no clue what else could be wrong. First, I plug the power supply into...
Hello everyone! Today I started a project of trying to convert a PC power supply to desktop power supply. The power supply was 250W and in good working condition. First I connected the green PC-ON wire to the ground. I then tested the voltages and they were all within range. Next I...
That is an interesting idea. I did not know that you could set the reference point on an ADC, I thought it was simply a variable between 0v and 5v. Do you have anything that would help explain how to do this? Thanks for your advice!

I am trying to take a gauge reading... What type of circuit would I have to use to amplify the output voltage of I think 330mV to a 0v to +5v for the ADC? Could you do it with a lm324 quad amp?
Hello everyone. I am currently working on a project where I am trying to convert the signal from an uncompensated/unamplified pressure sensor into a meaningfull signal that I can use a PIC to convert the pressure into an actual PSI/bar reading. Here is the sensor I am using...
