    Periodic power cycle

I want to build a device to periodically power cycle another device. I bought a cheapie D-Link DP-301U print server so that any computer in the house is able to print without relying on any other computer to host the printer. It seems that after a week or more of uptime, the PS stops...

    few questions

A comparator, as the name suggests, is a device which compares things. It compares voltage levels. On one pin, you connect your reference voltage. The other pin is the test voltage. The output of the chip changes whenever the test voltage is equal to or greater than the reference. A...

    Is $20 a good price for a P16PRO40 Programmer?

Exactly. A good rule of thumb is to never buy cables (parallel, serial, USB) in a store that also sells printers. What they lose through discounts on printer sales, they make up for in 100x cable markup. -_-

    Is $20 a good price for a P16PRO40 Programmer?

If it was a Belkin cable from Staples, it would cost around that amount or more for a 6 foot one. Plus that ZIF is going to be $11-12. You ripped yourself off. :P

    Why are 7-segment displays slanted?

Ahhhhh there we go! That sounds reasonable. The digit spans the whole width, and there's room left to fit a decimal point in there. On the custom made ones, if they have no use for a decimal point, they don't stick one on, and don't need the slant to account for it. elbc1388: I've had 7segs...

    Why are 7-segment displays slanted?

Slanting them makes them easier to read? :) The clock in my car, and my alarm clock, and my watch all have all the segments straight. Just about all of the ones specifically made for use in a particular device are straight. But every generic purpose 7 segment I've ever been able to find to buy...

Microchip no longer giving samples out

I've never tried to get the samples from microchip before, never really had a reason to. They're just so inexpensive to add on to an order, and I order parts and just fairly often, I just toss a few on. Plus as was just mentioned, you can get them really cheap from Glitchbuster. But I look at...

    need some ideas

Push a button, display a random 'dice roll', made up by twin sets of LEDs in the arrangement of dice dots. Ya don't really need a randomizer, just have it count and cycle as long as the button is held down. When the user releases at whatever time, display the current count on them. Should be...

    Unrecognize Error

Well there's the problem right there. The assembler only recognizes asm code. It cannot work with C code. Your workmate is going to have to look into getting a C compiler for the PIC. Google, or searching this message board, can get you info for buying one, or getting a limited version for free.
