Hi all, i was wondering if someone could help me design a cct for the following function. This system would be to notify XRay techs, located in an adjacent room, of an incoming requisition for an Xray procedure.

Scinario:
1. A sheet of paper (XRay req) exits an HP4100 printer, this is were the initial trigger pulse would come from, either some sort of micro switch or a emitter/detector switch mounted around the paper exit.

2. Signal turns on a bright LED in a wall mounted box located in an adjacent room. Also, possibly a buzzer could sound for 1 second every minute or something.

3. Once the Xray Tech has acknowledge the req, she/he would hit a reset button on the box and the sys would go back to standby/monitor.

Thank you in advance for any info/advice.

Why not just leave the alarm on as long as the paper is in the printer? Removing it would turn off the alarm.
You could use a 555 driving an LED and/or a buzzer, with an optical interrupter to control the reset pin on the 555. The 555 could be set to the frequency and duty cycle (pulse rate and ON time) you desire.
