Recently, I thought about following task.
How to calculate the electron mean free path for alternating voltage (127 V, 50 Hz) on the half-period in wire of l=1 m length?
first, the drift velocity is: [latex]v=U/len\rho[/latex]
I got this formula from considerations: [latex]j=env[/latex] and [latex]j=E/\rho[/latex] and [latex]E=U/l[/latex] but [latex]U=U_0 sin(\omega t)[/latex] hence [latex]v=U_0 sin(\omega t)/len\rho[/latex]
