The really scary bit was,
Critical mass for uranium is just 110 pounds; plutonium only needs to melt into a 35-pound mass to go critical and explode in a violent chain reaction. But the No. 3 reactor core at Fukushima contains more than 7 tons of uranium and a half a metric ton of plutonium.
The No. 3 reactor is running the hottest and contains 6 to 7 times more fuel than Chernobyl. Let's hope they can stop it melting.
