Hey there,
I'm now doing some LCD experiments using the 16x2 LCD panel purchased in my local store.
I've put the code into the PIC18F45K20, and however, all I got is still the square blocks on the 2nd line.
Edit: [Solved] I realized that the LCD panel is a bit peculiar - I flipped it upside down! For casual note, the JHD-162A brand display sets have their connectors on top of the LCD panel, not below.
