hi guys,

my friends are planning to make a circuit that sends alarm to nearby hospital if in case an accident occurs in road.
if it is hit and run case, the vehicle registration numbers of person who were involved in the accident will be sent immediately to nearby police station,so that person who was responsible for the accident would be traced easily;
we have got the idea of how to send signal to police station and hospital when a accident occurs;
But we are not able to find a good solution for detection of the road accident ;
will u please help us
Bye........

You need to give more information.

Where is this detector going to be located? The road, individual cars, traffic cameras,....what are we talking about here?

If we're talking about cars, any kind of pressure sensors on the bumpers or sides would work, just like the air bag sensors.

The easyest way would be an cable by the road.So when an heavy car crashes in to it it will snap breaking the cirucit.

As for the licence plate thingy you would need cameras all over the place wich is not even a litle close to cheap.

GM here in US has ONSTAR system. In advertisements they indicate that SRS deployment signals dispatcher. Look into that system for some ideas.

The sensor would have to be located on the vehicle. A shock sensor with a setting somewhat less than would deploy the airbag, a PIC micro with owner's name and vehicle ID, and perhaps a GPS receiver to give the location of the accident.
