Hi , i am trying to control a latching solenoid valve of 12 V using a H-bridge , this valve needs one pulse positive to open and one pulse negative to latch, I cant find specifications for my valve , so I measured the current consumed , it was 1.5 Amps , but of course i left it on at least 30 sec to be able to measure. I was testing my valve with this H-bridge , that suppose has 2 Amp maximum output current , when it caught on fire , and I cant figure it out how that could be possible , since it has not any short , the chip suppose to have over current protection . I soldered my part in a proto smt board , without the cooper for dissipation , but I do not think it could get that hot to make it get on fire. what do you suggest? do you think the initial current peak of the selenoid is much bigger than 2 Amps and that was the reason? Is any person that has experience with this chip??
