P picbits Well-Known Member Aug 15, 2010 #2 I have zener diodes that are dark/black (18V 5W) and pn diodes that are clear (1N4148) It seems the lower current diodes tend to be made in glass packaging while higher current are made from plastic or ceramic packaging.
