You are probably referring to disorder called rickets, which is due to lack of vitamin D. Vitamin C deficiency causes scurvy. Kraut (as in sauerkraut) is another source of vitamin C and is also a name affectionately applied to a particular nationality.

So far as I know, bowed legs and wanking have nothing in common. If you really are interested in problems related to vitamin D deficiency and skeletal deformities in Canadian immigrants, Wikipedia has a decent write-up about it:

The problem you are seeing is most likely not due to lack of sunlight, even in Canada, but to poor nutrition in the home country. Vitamin D is one of the more interesting vitamins from a both a biological and evolutionary standpoint. The wiki article goes into some detail about its biochemistry. From an evolutionary standpoint, ask yourself how such a strange pathway could develop and provide any survival advantage?

I think the affected people, particularly the children, need to be helped and not referred to as cripples. Vitamin D supplements are not expensive and should not be expensive to provide to every child on earth. When i said "immigrants to Canada from a certain country" I didn't think about the Muslim momen wearing burquas so that they are entirely covered and probably have a severe vitamin D defifiency unless they take a supplement.

I am elderly and I am living in a country that has only a small amout of weak sunshine in the winter. Therefore I am at risk of a deficiency! I better gobble some vitamin D pills each winter. It is too late for the crippled people.
