wireless (be it bluetooth or ieee802.11)

Does anyone have any experience with either bluetooth or ieee802.11? I've been wanting to get into some wireless applications and I figured that one of the two standards would be the way to go. Does anyone have any information on using either of these two standards (from a development point of view) or knows of any modules that one can buy and use?
