Ditto what Ron said, adding for a rocker or toggle switch, the center contacts will usually be connected to the contacts opposite the switch handle, i.e., if the handle is up, the bottom contacts will be connected.

I agree with that IF the switch is one of the smaller miniature toggle switches.
However, for the larger type as shown in the picture from U143, the opposite is usually true,
ie when the toggle is in the UP position, the centre contact connects to the upper contact,
and when the toggle is in the DOWN position, the centre contact connects to the lower contact.
