Wind generator

Hi,

this motor looks very much like a brushless DC-motor.

It takes a lot of logic and wiring to use it as a generator.

I suggest to use a fairly big bipolar stepper motor, which you can find at many places. Those stepppers have two coils and using a bridge rectifier for each, then connecting the rectifier outputs in parallel will give you a descent DC at moderate rotation. (using a unipolar stepper just use the outer taps of the coils and forget about the center tap)

Depending on the size and power of the stepper it takes some power to initially have them rotating since they are using strong magnets.

With a three blade propeller and a diameter of 15" you should get enough power to illuminate your garden with LEDs.

Don't forget a voltage regulator at the DC-output.

Boncuk
