Why do some circuit boards have square pads and circle pads?

    Hello,

    Just wondered why some have circles pads and square pads?

    The square pad often denotes the 1st pin of a device.

    Square pads have greater area for a given pitch & are therefore stronger, which is another reason they are sometimes used.
