Having just bought some electronic components, I was surprised at the country of origin of some of the items:

Diodes - China
Integrated circuits - UK
Capacitors - Mexico
Capacitors - Italy
Capacitors* - India
Capacitors* - Indonesia
Capacitors - El Salvador
Variable resistors - Sierra Leone
BNC Connectors - Taiwan

* These capacitors from two different countries were the same manufacturer/type, just different values.

I don't have a problem with this, I was just surprised at the geograpical range.

Not everything is made in China =)

Diodes - China :One way traffic
Integrated circuits - UK :Total control
Capacitors - India :Have potential
Just some lazy thoughts :)

TI also manufactures in Malaysia.

IIRC the US produces some IC chips but not to the extent of off-shore production facilities. We seem to good at making troubles and large debt!:(
