What is the difference between active and passive loads

I dont understand the difference between active and passive loads

A load is something which draws current from an applied voltage source.
A passive load is a load consisting of only a resistor, capacitor or inductor, or a combination of them.
An active load is a load which includes something which is current or voltage controlled, particularly a semiconductor device.
