Hello There,

I have two questions about AVR microcontroller (ATMEGA16L).

Is it possible to generate watchdog timer waveform using the ATMEGA16L's I/O then to feed a supervisory circuit?

If I use a 8Mhz oscillator as a external clock source to ATMEGA16L's XTAL1 pin, can I use the XTAL2 pin as a clock output to provide clock for other circuits? or can I use an I/O to generate a clock?

Thanks in advance.

If what you´re trying to do is outputting some pulses for an external watchdog, then doing it in software would be your best choice.
