Hi
I have a need for 38v supply due to a uv exposeure box am building. Sadly the largest power brick I have to hand is a 19v @4A laptop charger. Is it possible to amplify the voltage into 38v@1A and how would I do that? Some refences would be much appreciated.

Do you have several power supplies to connect in series. If you can get three 12V@1A supplies and stack them up you will have 36V@1A.

You could use two 19V chargers in series to get 38V or you could use a boost switching regulator circuit to increase 19V to 38V.

So according to an online calculator, I need a 3.2 ohm resistor to get 400 mA current. However it's rare to find such a value. Would it mtter if I use 2,7 ohm? Am using lm338 btw
