i have to come up with something called "delayed voice generator"
the theory is somewhat simple (in my opinion)
input voice, delay by a certain amount of time, output
this is meant for folks that have problems speaking properly (stammering..)
any ideas will be very much appreciated (or just point me in the right direction)

What about using a ECHO circuit instead of a delay by a certain amount of time.

I think if you Google, there is a device already available that does what you are looking for. I saw it many years ago on TV, the theory is that why some people stammer is due to a time delay problem in their speech/hear brain pathway and by intoducing an extra time delay it seemed to cancel the stammer.

Anyway dont be put off, if you have an idea, research it, just make sure before you do lots of work its not a patent somewhere.

first of all, thanks for the quick reply (it was really quick!!)
i did some research on the Internet but i can't really find anything useful


actually i was thinking of writing up a program (start from scratch)
so my question is this, is there any programming language that accepts vocal input and the data stored can be manipulated?
by the way, i am only familiar in C++ and a little bit in Matlab (excuse me for my inexperience)

also, do i need any hardware to make the 'delayed voice generator' work?

The only one I have used is Visual Basic with microsoft speech programs.

How do you intend manipulating the speech input/output and how are you going detect and feed it back to the person speaking?

then is it possible to use Matlab language to perform this as well?
what i meant was can Matlab accept audio input?
this is because i don't really have any experience using VB
also, what kind of hardware should i look for?
PIC?microcontrollers?

i was thinking of using a mic to accept sound input and output using speakers
what happens in between is up to the 'hardware and software' section
hopefully someone can provide me with the specific model to use (hardware i mean) *wink wink*
