Hi, I have worked with USB interfacing with several projects, this time I want to make such a circuit using PIC18F4550 to read a specific file on a flash memory drive then write it to an other flash memory drive so that I copy a specific file from drive #1 to drive #2.

I thought that I'll multiplex the two drives and only one of them will be online with PIC, where I'll read the file first then active the second drive and write the file on to it.

I want this circuit to publish my magazine more easily, where I'll use this circuit at school.

I'm waiting your ideas and helps.

EXACTLY what USB projects have you done before?.

This device needs to be a USB host (like a PC is), most PIC's (and others) only support USB slave.

Nigel is correct about the USB host. Some of the 16 bit PICs such as the 24FJ64GB002-I/SP which is a 28 pin DIP offer USB OTG which will operate as a USB host. Several of the 32 bit PICs also offer USB OTG. FTDI also makes a USB host to serial chip but I don't know the number off hand.
