Hi,

I want to build a VCO (URL: **broken link removed**) but have problems sourcing the varicaps (SMV-1255-004) in the UK. Does anyone know of a good equivalent widely available?

The VCO should run from 100mhz (or less) to 200mhz.

Varicaps have been almost impossible to source for a number of years now, I would suggest you reclaim some from old TV tuners.

Nigel, you must be moving in the wrong circles, RS Components lists 48 types.

For the SMV1225, the datasheet is here:

At a quick guess a BB200 may do as a replacement.

I've never looked for them, I just knew that MCES (who specialised in tuner repairs) were having real problems sourcing replacements for tuner repairs.
