So, here's a another newbie question for you all.

I'm following this schematic:
**broken link removed**

And I've ordered almost everything except the transistor. When I punch "2N5088" into google it recognises it and some shops come up, but I'd prefer to buy it all from RS Components. But, there it doesn't look like they work on the "2N5088" numbering style system thingy-majig (Legit terminology)

So, what does this mean? They seem to want maximum amps and voltage and all this, so I'm a bit stuck on what "2N5088" actually means.

hi,
A 2N5088 is a npn very high gain ~900 transistor and is low noise.
Look thru the RS transistor range for a close match
