Can any one help me with the identification this componet which I believe to be a Transistor I need to replace on a automotive control panel. 12 V. bult by Delco (GM) The small indentation stamp reads Mexico 35

A recomended alternative would be great

Well it's definitely TO-220 package, and the pin markings BCE indicate standard pinout for a NPN or PNP transistor.

2SC918 is a tiny transistor, but 2SD918 looks like a power transistor right around the specs you might expect for an automotive power transistor;

2SD918 TO-220 NPN 250v 2A 80W beta100
