transformerless power supply the most ideal

i prepared a circuit which has relay and ic. Input 220V ac output 12 V dc.
Must
1-) to be cheaper. (transformerless, not 7805 etc)
2-) to be ideal and stable

could you send a diagram.

Not likely at 1A, usually the transformerless supplies are a few ma. and they can get quite hot not to mention dangerous.

To get 1 amp u need a costly capacitor..besides the inherient shock hazards as mentioned by "blueroomelectronics"...Go in for transformer type !!
