Hi.....
i am a student of third year ece.
i am from coimbatore of tamilnadu.
i wish to do a project.
i am havimg only the idea, but i don,y know how to implement it.
the idea is that
when there is a leakage of any gas from a company or a gas from a house, the electric circuit should be breaked and the current should be shut down.in addition to that an alarm should be made outside the house.
i found that the necessary components are not available here in the market.
i require u'r(s) suggestions of what components to be used and where to get the components.
thank you,eagerly waiting for u'r(s) reply(ies).

thank u for u'r reply sir!

so please tell the neccesary steps to be taken!
thank u!!!!

dang, I saw something like that not too long ago.

the parts and even pre-made devices "do" exsist. I think one I saw was at walmart (large department store) - it was for using with mobile trailers and RV's ... propane gas leak detector... would sound an alarm if it smelled propane.

I also saw a sensor module for detecting several different hydrocarbon gases (lpg, natural, etc)... but I dont' remember where I saw it now.

google for it ... the answer is out there...

Theres all kinds of sensors. Solid state, electrostatic,electro-chemical, Infra Red, Laser. Depends on budget and your design.

sensor seek on google:

Some products:

When you have your design settled , which is basically a low voltage sensor driving a amplifier stage to a comparator ( to give you a "window" of detection range ) driving an output device. I recommend you use a solid state relay as your shutoff supply switch as we don't want any sparks from a regular relay , do we ?

Example here:

My RV is equipped with a sensor designed to indicate propane or LPG leakage. It also wakes me up when the dog sleeps too close to it - methane I presume.
