Timers for PIC16F87

Im using an internal timer for PIC16F87x, Iv been looking around on how to use them, but most code outthere tends to be using ADC while doing it and calling interupt routines and things like that. Im finding this a bit hard and want to start somewhere a bit easier. Does any one have any simple "C" code for using any of the three timers on the PIC.
