light travels faster than sound then why do we hear sound first and not video in telivision?

Because the sound doesn't come from somebody at the transmitting station shouting. It comes from the speaker in your TV.

Are you refering to when you switch it on?

In that case your video displays requires alot more power than your audio system and takes longer to start up.

You might get more help if you're more clear about what you're asking.

Normally the sound and picture are well synchronised, if the sound is slightly ahead of the picture then it's just poor dubbing and nothing to do with the speed of sound and light.

Pretty basic question - for an old CRT set the CRT has to warm up, for modern LCD/Plasma both come on together.

But in neither case do you hear the sound before the picture, the broadcast picture is already there, just nor visible on a cold CRT.
