Tekronix 2235 Oscilliscope - No Horizontal Sweep - only vertical signal.

I am trying to troubleshoot this oscilloscope and I was hoping that you can join me on my adventure!

History....

Tested at warehouse and got a 1khz signal on both channels.
Took home from a smooth ride in my jeep and set it on bench. Next day fired up and it was not working.

Manual...

I have the Operators Manual / Service Manual / Tektronix repair your oscilloscope guide.

What is it doing? I uploaded a vid to Youtube ->> https://youtu.be/tof9Hp0yYAo

-No traces without using beam find. AT ALL. NONE.
-No horizontal time reading.
-The video shows me doing many tests with the buttons while holding beam find.

I as well as others seem to think this is in the horizontal circuit somewhere. Also there is a chance that one of the buttons is sticking and needs replaced. Either way I was hoping that you all can check out the video so you can see EXACTLY what my scope is doing and maybe you can help guide me for a less frustrating experience.

I am reading the manuals and there is a lot I do not understand with troubleshooting. I do know about all the high voltage and understand how to be safe.

What do you all think? Thank you so much!

I can't see a good pic of the front panel and what you have the controls set at. beamfinder is working properly.

The intensity control may actually be turned down.

I need to see a shot of the front panel, so I can see the controls.

Many times you actually use channel 2.

It seems like a classic problem in which you don''t have the trigger set right or the intensity is turned down. The fact that beamfinder shows a real signal, your intensity control may have gotten bumped.

I need a pic of the front panel with the probe in the cal slot.

Wow good thing I did not take out any circuit boards. The intensity was the only issue. Thanks for the help. Problem solved.

Exactly. It was very difficult to see the control positions. You kept focusing on the waveform. Half of the fun is getting a first time trace.

Albeit there was a trouble going on and eventually somebody could be shooted for all this, could we call this actual "troubleshooting"? :D :D

Good to know that the problem was solved.
