Switched Outlet

I thought I was smarter than this...but that is obviously not the case. Changed a receptacle and a switch in a bedroom, from Ivory to White. One half of the outlet is operated by the switch, where you enter the room. It worked before I changed it, now it is on all the time; the switch has no effect. Sorry, but I have to ask....
What did I do wrong..?

You forgot to break off the connectors between the top socket and the bottom socket.

So does that mean I have to sever any connection between the 2 HOT screws on the receptacle?

Breaking off the tabs does the seperation.
