Is anyone charged with reviewing stickies and deciding whether they should be kept, removed, updated, etc.?

As just one example, ETO has two stickies related to posting schematics. One dates back more than 10 years, recommends posting a schematic as a bit mapped file, a gives a series of keystrokes to follow that no longer have the same names. The other is more recent and recommends using a pdf, but it is currently 66 posts long.

Perhaps the former should be deleted and the later modified to incorporate the current procedures for posting both files and snippets as well incorporating whatever suggestions ETO believes should be made to the content.

Stickies take up valuable screen space and should be short to be useful. If a lengthy thread is contextually relevant to a sticky, a link to the whole thread can be included.

Hi John,

You're on to something here. I'll speak with the other moderators and we'll see about consolidating the two.

Thanks for bringing this up!
Matt

A sticky is the several threads at the top of a forum..... They are permanently pinned there so they can be read easily..

You can see the pin under "Start Date" These are stuck so they are called "sticky's"

Thanks Ian, all makes sense now .. .. ... there was I imagine something far more lurid and interesting :D

John .. My apologies for Shanghaing your thread

Stickies can be placed in a "Stickies", "Important topics", Essentials", "Notable threads" folder or whatever else you want to call it. Real "stickies" like "Read this before posting" can stay a real sticky". If that can't work. make a small sub-Forums like" e.g. High voltage - Make one called "Notable topics" or whatever where the stickies have gotten out of hand.
