Stepper Motor Controller (PIC16F877, ULN2003A, L297)

Hi all,
Need some feed back on my project.
Have a circuit with me. I use NE555 timer to handle clock signal which is a input to the L297 and also wish to give to inputs from the microcontroller to the L297(To control direction and enable/disable of motor).

Four pins named SL1(in the figure) will go directly to ULN2003A and then to the stepper motor.

Will it work?

using bipolar motor??
come on simplify your life use unipolar 6/5 wire motors this doesn't need H bridge.
