stepper motor control using 89c51

hello
i am having m42sp-5 motor using 89c51 to control and uln2803 motor driver i am using . I wrote the program but motor is taking only one step and stopping It is also becoming hot but not moving further. Actally it is supposed to take desired no of steps entered by user on matrix keyboard.
lcd display has also been connected. Problem with this is it is showing the alphabetic charecters but not the numbers.
plz hep me where i might have gone wrong.

You use a subroutine which converts ascii to binary.

Can you post your source code here? It seems there is problem with your program or the connection sequence.
