sound problem on computer

my sound is not working on my computer i am running XP. if i click on my sound icon on the bottom right it says "there are no active mixer devices available to install mixer devices .........program will close now"
and when i try to install the device it cannont find my speakers

nevermind i had to restart three times now the sound works
