Hello, my children have a Thomas ride on toy which has been acting up. When one of the Hand operated pressure switches is actuated and then released the chug chug sound continues without stopping. The only way to get it to stop is to disconnect the battery. Any idea what the problem could be and is there a simple fix?
I can add a photo if necessary.
No Chippie, a jammed switch would trigger the sound as soon as the battery is connected again. JW1, ca you post a picture of the board where the suspect switch is connected to?
EDIT: Sorry JV1, I didn't noted your pictures. Seems like that board controls everything: two terminals for the battery, two terminals for the motor, two for the lights and two for ¿the speaker?
The only serviceable things in that board are the transistors (the things marked with Q1, Q2, Q3) the resistances (R1, R2, R3) and the diodes (marked with D1, D2, D3...). If none of them is damaged, the board is totaled. In that case, a mediocre repair would consist on disconnecting the annoying speaker
Just looking at the board, notice the 220k resistor red,red ,yellow, these are notorious for going higher resistance,ie O/C,also the chip itself could be causing the problem.
Circuit diagram would be of help of course....no chance?!&*
