hello,

I have 3x 120watt 12v panels.. series (36v nominal [approx 60v opencircuit])
3x 40watt 44v nominal (44vnominal [approx 60v ish] opencircuit)

my 36v series string of 120w goto a high quality MPPT500 charger. capable of 500watts

now my 40 watts togo a pwm cheapo charger

charging at 24v

I WOULD rather use the 40watt panels with the mppt charger
Can I wire the 3x 40watt in parallel with the 3x 120?

thanks
will the higher nominal volt cause a problem to the other panels?

By putting smaller PV panels in the same array as the big panels will cause the big panels to act like the small panels so you must have them setup in parallel in separate arrays. I have the same situation here, I have 14 kaneka PV panels going thru a FM 60 outback MPPT and 350 watts of PV in parrallel going thru my own homemade charge controller.
