heh, im sure if i follow an exact design and part list from a reference design from some place like ST i shouldnt have an issue. If i do ill be sure to take it up with them.
We could not get the Chopper Transformers wound correctly
with consistency. The Viper software showed how the PCB layout must look. I followed it to the letter. Picture perfect.
^^^ Atom, don't kid yourself. Believe me.....I(We) tried. And I do not give up easily..
Think about this: Not your normal Mains transformer running @ 50/60 Hz that can be wound easily. Other things to consider:
1. Core Material.
2.Switching speed(dealing with around 100 Khz here).
And yes I said 100Khz. Not a typo.
So much quick switching, so much happening.....in the blink of an eye all goes to hell/heaven.
It's not
ST's fault. There are literally thousands/millions of these out there still. Reliable as ever. I did not know enough then.
Could not get the SMPS Transformer wound correctly.
And that is that. And a lesson learned.
Typical of me though....always trying the cutting edge
And all this took place around 2001 or 2002....
I have changed though.....sort of like mediocrity right now....instead of trying to lead
....I shut up and listen rather. And try and prevent others making my mistakes.
Saving you time. Saving you money.
