Hello I need help identifing this smd componet

I can read:
a litle triangle pointig up 226 E
T40 U 8

The label on the PCB, pretty much says it's a capacitor. (C44) Other than that it looks like a capacitor.

Tantalum capacitors have their positive terminal next to the marking (stripe). If it is placed accross a supply rail, you could check where its terminals are connected by the PCB tracks.
 
Before you replace it, check the voltage across it.

Tantalum capacitors are extremely intolerant of working outside their specified voltage range and tend to turn into small rocket ships if you're not careful.
