For anyone looking to use a Sim900 module with their micro project, the older Sim900 modules seems to work in most countries, but there is now a newer, smaller and cheaper Sim 900A mini module being sold on ebay etc.

While a basic search for differences between the 900 and 900A does not seem to show any problems, in fact the A module is locked for use in just the far east.

Seems the 900A could be hacked to run on the older 900 firmware but for the price difference its worth buying /sticking to the standard 900 modules .
