I know I posted this in General Electronics, I am sorry if I am not allowed to post again on the same thing. The thing is, I am not sure if this would be the right place for it or would the other part of the forum be? I am in school for this and cannot find this in my book or online. I am not looking for a free handout. This is not for a quiz or anything. I just need to know this to actually move further and cannot find it.

Could someone tell me the operation of a basic shift-register-controlled keyboard encoder? I have been looking for this online and cannot find any help on this. Any help would be greatly appreciated and much needed.
