Hello:

Anybody have any sample code in assembler they could share for shifting left or right on line 1 or 2 on a 2X16 LCD. The command control codes for control/cursor shift work but they shift BOTH lines. Would like to only shift one line. Thanks

You can't shift just one line, the display is a window on to a 2x40 display memory, all the shift commands do is 'slide' that window along the memory. To do one line you have to do it your self, and overwrite what's there on the single line.
