Sending bytes from one chip to another

Okay I have a number which can vary stored on a 671, and I need to send that number to a F84 so I can display that number on LED displays. How do I send the bits to the F84 insuring that I send all and recieve all?

A simple asyncronous serial connection is all you require, it only needs one pin on each PIC.
