does anyone know or know where i can get more information to make a large scrolling message board with 2x10 of 8x8 RG led matrix and also how to program it.

Greatly appreciated.

regarding on programming, it depends on what microprocessor your using...
we use before a zilog to run a 8x8 matrix single led only..
together with a johnson counter IC..

Hi discostuee,

There are quite a few projects which have scrolling displays built by cascading led matrices. Here is a link to one such project . You should be able to get the schematics and probably the code form here.

For a generic 8x8 led matrix driver the **broken link removed** are very popular. They use a 4 wire serial interface and many of them can be used on the same line to generate the large display you want. Any microcontroller should do to control them

You should also look at the following parts from sparkfun for their schematics and implementation. They are very expensive but you should be able to better understand how to implement such an arrangement.

Hope this helps,

Cheers,
Varun
