Hi,

I want to build a small power supply that can power up a SATA DVD Drive and I would like to know what type of power ratings should I design for?

I have found out that I need to provide +12V, +5V, +3.3V and Ground. What I need to know is 12V @ ??A , 5V @ ??A , 3.3V @ ??A...

I know a lot of drives do not use the 3.3V supply but I'm sure its used in this case.

I have found a 12V @ 1A, 5V @ 1A and 3.3V @ 1.5 A LDO Regulators, should this be fine?

Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks,

You may want to note from Eric's link:

I have yet to encounter a SATA drive that requires the 3.3 volts. As to current on the 12 and 5 volt lines? If you allow for 1 amp it should be adequate.
