There is no such thing as a DC transformer. Neither the input side or the output side will work with DC current.

If its 240V AC as you say, then you could buy a 240Vac to 12Vac transformer and add a rectifier, capacitor and 7809 regulator to give 9V DC.

You can buy wall plugs with both a transformer and rectifier integrated to give 9VDC.

If it is so urgent then try salvaging the transformer and rectifier parts from old equipments like radio-cassette player.
