Hi guys,

Problem: I have to connect a LED to the Tx channel of a RS232 so that when indications would be given when data is being txmitted.

I have in mind a non-inverted buffer in series with resistor and indication LED...the problem is that I don't know rather or not a 5VDC as VCC would be sufficient? Any ideas?

Buffer: Tosiba TC74HC07AP

Cheers all,

Ben

5V is plenty to run an LED. But you can simply connect an LED and series resistor directly to the RS232 data lines - you can buy commercial testers which do just that - no power required, simply plug it in line, with LED's for TX, RX, and handshake lines.
