Hello Sir,

We r doing our BS in Telecommunication Engineering....
and as our Last year came and we've to decide our FYP..
so, we think something like to get rid of a taking attenedence in every Lecture by our Proffesors...
so, we think of a RFID based attenedence system for each student...

WE will embed a RFID tags in a student ID card...
whcih is compulsory for all student to wear in uni.
and when ever it enters in class, his/her attenedence mark.
and the total time duration which he for sit in class saves....

So, please kindly reply...

CAN WE DO THIS.. ???
CAN WE IMPLEMENT THIS THING ????

Thank you, for yr time to read me...

Sure we use this where I work for attendance and also for building access.

Now you have different problems...
RFID swapping for credit in class.
RFID duplication.
Failures in the RFID reception grid that make those swappers and duplicates seem like errors, and hence accepted. No you can not implement this thing.

This system will allow a student to carry several ID cards to a lecture while his friends stay home. Only his own ID is visible of course, and all of his friends get credit for attending!

This will work unless you require students to march into the lecture with a minimum separation between them.

yes, the system will be gameable. so what? this is a student project where they learn the basics. nothing wrong with that.

There is a somewhat adjacent issue of usability. The type of tags and the min distance to read will affect how well the system works. Note that many rfid systems get confused by multiple tags and could misbehave. Perhaps the misbehavior will indicate potential system gaming going on. worthy of investigation and could result in a superior grade if clever solutions and or uses of the data are achieved.

By the way, do they actually take attendance in college these days? Seems, well, surprising. Though with the big-brother trend in many countries, I shouldn't be surprised.

Attendance system using RFID and Face Recognition

im working on a similar project.its about student attendance using RFID and face recognition as rfid alone is not feasible for this job..so its an AND operation of RFID and Face recognition..its something new and im quite concerned weather it will pay off..kindly give ur feedback
