Resistor to replace an 1156 bulb

It seems that nobody at Radio Shack can come with an answer.
I need to replace an 1156 turnsignal bulb with a resistor.
I have used the Ohm's Law getting these figures:
12VDC / 3.6 Ω / 40 Watts / 3.3333 Amps
So... what would I need to replace the bulb?

According to this website (1156 USA - incandescent - miniature light bulb lamp - donsbulbs - light bulbs lamps valve valves tube tubes) the 1156 bulb takes 2.1A @ 12.8V for a power of 26.9W. Thus you need a 12.8/2.1 = 6.1Ω (approximately) 30W resistor.

Why do you want to replace the bulb with a resistor? It certainly is a big waste of power.

The schematic works when I replace the resistor with the 1156 bulb.

mm better be a 30w resistor though.

Some thermal flashers have strange characteristics because they rely on the turn-on surge that you get with bulbs.

BTW, flashing brake lights aren't legal in most places.

Maybe they are not legal for cars but...

Not legal for cars maybe but I don't know about motorcycles because they are sold all over. That is what this application is for. Also I live in WI and have seen flashing brake lights on motorcycles in WI & IL.
They also allow for the pulsing headlights but I personally don't go for that. It looks too much like the PD.
I personally want to thank everyone for the replies. I will search out & find a resistor company on line tonight & make a purchase.
