I hope your professor really isn't that poor? - the 2N2222 is NPN, and the BC177 is PNP.

I also hope he's never been shown the circuit?, as the IR LED is backwards, the transistor is shown incorrectly as NPN, and is upside down as well.

The 4.7K in series with the LED also means it's going to be VERY short ranfe, it's really a pretty useless website!.
 
Everything is wrong with the schematic because of the country where the website is from.
I used a BC177 about 45 years ago.
