reliable display cable

i have a small display, 2 lines x16 with backlight what i want to connect to my comp. i have looked on the net nd tried a few designs usin the parallel port but none of them have worked. ne1 kno of a schematic for a cable what does work? thanx

itz just a lil text display, 2 lines of 16 characters. i have a few programs what can run it, just nothin is workin 2 connect it to my comp

The connections of the cable depend entirely on the software you use.

Isn't there a scematic included with the software? if not you should try to contact the author.
